CIWM launches Technical membership
To meet the waste management and resource sector’s ever-growing demand to professionalise specific technical ability, CIWM has today launched a new grade to its portfolio of membership options.
Responding to market research and sector feedback, CIWM will now recognise the pathways of technically competent managers by awarding TechMCIWM membership to applicants with level 4 or higher technical qualifications or apprenticeships with 2 years’ experience.
This new membership grade has been launched to support sector businesses in developing the technical skills needed to help meet the UK’s net zero and circular economy ambitions, moving the world beyond waste.
Commenting on the launch, CIWM’s Professional Services Director, Katie Cockburn, said: “We recognise that a one-size membership does not fit all, so our new technical membership will add real value for those in operational roles who feel that their significant skill set is not easily assimilated into one of CIWM’s existing membership grades.
“By creating technical membership with its own post-nominals, technically competent managers can be assured that CIWM will support and further their careers in the waste management and resource sector.”
Technical membership of CIWM will be self-selecting and assessed against a set of relevant membership criteria. Existing Associate Members will be able to transfer to Technical membership if they are able to demonstrate the appropriate expertise and experience.
