Richard Coulson recognised in ENDS Power List 2024
WRA Chair Richard Coulson has been named as one of the top 100 most influential environmental professionals in the UK on the ENDS Power List 2024.
The Powerlist celebrates talent across the environmental sector and successful nominees have been revealed over the course of this week. Mr Coulson was named today (May 31) under the professional influencers category.
As Chair of the Wood Recyclers’ Association (WRA) since 2021, Mr Coulson has worked as a tireless advocate for the waste wood sector and has been instrumental in raising the profile of the association and the waste wood industry.
During his time as WRA Chair, he has spearheaded the association’s trailblazing MP engagement project, ensuring that the sector’s voice is heard at the highest levels and helping to influence national policy. This work has included successfully lobbying for the inclusion of waste wood biomass in the 2023 Biomass Strategy and for higher wood packaging recycling targets and more recently delivering evidence to the Energy Security and Net Zero Select Committee. He has also helped lead the Association’s work on carbon modelling to demonstrate the important role the sector can play in helping to reach Net Zero.
Mr Coulson has over 20 years of experience in the waste wood sector, having worked in procurement for both the panel board and biomass industries. He is currently Biomass Procurement Manager at RWE Supply & Trading and is also a member of the Chartererd Institute of Purchasing.
WRA Executive Director, Julia Turner, said: “Congratulations to Richard for being included on the 2024 Ends Power List. In his role as Chair of the WRA, Richard has dedicated so much of his time and expertise to promoting our sector and it is great to see his experience, knowledge and hard work be recognised in this way. This accolade could not be more deserved.”
Mr Coulson said: “I’m delighted and humbled to be included on the ENDS power List alongside so many inspirational individuals. This recognition is a wonderful endorsement of all the work we do at the WRA to support our members and promote our industry. This is a team effort, so I would like to thank all my wonderful colleagues at the WRA.”
The individuals on this year’s Power List were selected following a rigorous process including a survey of ENDS Report’s readership, and the help of a panel of experts in the field.
ENDS Report editor, Jamie Carpenter, said: “The Power List is a celebration of the vast reserves of talent that exist in the environmental profession, and aims to shine a light on work of those whose efforts are delivering positive change.”
